Flat-screen and smart-TV mounting, done in the right order

A good mount is decided before the drill comes out: wall material, stud position, bracket rating, viewing height, power location and the path every cable will take once the screen is level.

Compare bracket options
01

The bracket comes before the first hole

Hardware is matched to the television and the surface, never the other way around.

A slim bedroom set, a heavy older plasma and a big living-room screen each need different handling. The VESA pattern is checked, the bracket's weight rating confirmed, and fixed, tilting or full-motion hardware chosen based on how the room is actually used. Full-motion arms get especially solid attachment points because they lever against the wall; slim fixed mounts get careful leveling because there is no hiding a tilt. Ports and ventilation keep breathing room, so a streaming stick or game console can be added later without unmounting the TV.

Walls we work with

Drywall over studs, older plaster, masonry and paneled accent walls each call for different anchors, drill bits and expectations.

Height you will not regret

Screen position is mocked up before drilling, so the final height suits real seating rather than a guess made at the wall.

02

Cable concealment that stays serviceable

The visible finish is what separates a mounted TV from a temporary one.

Concealment can be as simple as a paintable surface raceway or as involved as an in-wall route where the wall and local rules allow. Low-voltage HDMI and optical lines can be hidden; electrical power follows stricter rules, and that part of the plan stays conservative. Either way, a sensible service loop is left behind the panel so swapping a streaming box or console later does not mean reopening the wall or disturbing the bracket.

Soundbar-ready installs

Soundbar placement is settled before final height, whether it mounts below the screen, attaches to the bracket or shares a shelf.

Renter-friendly options

Where drilling is limited, stands and minimal-hole approaches are discussed honestly instead of forcing a mount the wall cannot support.
